John C. Molina, J.D., is an esteemed entrepreneur and the visionary behind Pacific6 Enterprises, a trailblazing venture that reinvigorates stagnant projects and champions innovation.
In 2017, Mr. Molina co-founded Pacific6 Enterprises alongside five other visionaries, fueled by the mantra of "doing well, by doing good." This ethos drives their pursuit of investments and ventures that yield substantial financial returns while creating positive societal impact. As the primary financial contributor to Pacific6, Mr. Molina leads the charge towards groundbreaking achievements.
Pacific6 Enterprises has embarked on a remarkable array of projects, one of which is the historic revitalization of the iconic Breakers Hotel. Originally constructed in 1926 as the first Hilton Hotel west of the Mississippi, this architectural gem has now attained local historic designation. In an exciting development, the renowned Fairmont chain joined forces with Pacific6 in 2022 to brand and manage the hotel. Upon its grand opening in 2024, it will proudly stand as Long Beach's sole 4.5-star luxury destination.
Furthermore, the City of Long Beach entrusted Mr. Molina with the renovation of the historic Ocean Center Building, an exquisite architectural gem from 1929 that had languished unoccupied for a decade. Through Pacific6's ingenuity, the building has been transformed into 80 luxury residential units, earning prestigious National Historic status and Historic Tax Credits.
Aquaculture has long been Mr. Molina's passion, and through Pacific6, he secured the sole permit in the United States for open ocean mussel farming. Currently spanning 100 acres, the farm has ambitious plans to expand to an impressive 1,000 acres over the next three years, solidifying their position as pioneers in the U.S. aquaculture industry.
Driven by a commitment to environmental sustainability, Pacific6 spearheads investments in groundbreaking initiatives. One of those projects - Symbrosia, is a visionary company cultivating seaweed that remarkably reduces methane emissions from cattle by over 80%. Additionally, Pacific6 holds a significant stake in Clean Energy Enterprises, a company dedicated to converting organic waste, including plastics, into hydrogen fuel - a revolutionary energy source that powers electricity generation.
Prior to founding Pacific6, Mr. Molina served as the Chief Financial Officer of Molina Healthcare, a publicly traded healthcare organization. Joining the company at its inception, he played a pivotal role in its transformation from three primary care clinics to a colossal enterprise spanning 33 states, covering 4 million lives, and employing over 23,000 professionals. By the time of his departure in 2017, Molina Healthcare ranked an impressive #150 on the Forbes 500 list, cementing its status as one of the largest companies in the United States.
A philanthropist at heart, Mr. Molina has dedicated himself to making a difference. He has generously donated millions of dollars to his alma maters, California State University of Long Beach and the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California. At these institutions, he spearheaded the establishment of the C. David Molina Program for First Generation Scholars and the John C. Molina Scholarship program, empowering countless students to pursue their education and career dreams.
In collaboration with his siblings, Mr. Molina provided the lead gift for the creation of the Molina Family Latino Gallery at the Smithsonian Institute, a groundbreaking space that celebrates Latino culture and paves the way for a future Museum of Latino History.
Alongside his family, Mr. Molina also funded the Molina Animal Care Center and played a pivotal role in the realization of Pacific Visions at the Aquarium of the Pacific. As a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of the Aquarium of the Pacific for over a decade, he emerged as its longest-serving Chairman, spearheading the fundraising efforts that led to the creation of Pacific Visions.
Additionally, Mr. Molina has served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank, the California State University Foundation, and the 49er Foundation at California State University of Long Beach.
